Hi, I'm Alice! I moved to Philly from my home state of Mississippi in 2013, and when I die I'd like to be entombed beneath Alif Brew & Mini Mart with an order of chicken sambusas. 

It's tempting to tell you I like scary movies, but really I like mean weird psychological movies of almost any type. When I studied literature in college I was primarily interested in more grounded literary fiction and poetry, but now I crave the supernatural. In an effort to take in as many brooding trauma metaphors as I can, I've accidentally become a little bit of a movie guy. try not to hold that against me.

My mom’s a hairdresser, so I grew up in salons. My background is as a makeup artist, which I started doing professionally in high school over 20 years ago. If it really takes 10,000 hours to be considered an expert I can confidently say I'm an expert in how to make your brows look nice. (not to suggest malcolm gladwell might be right about anything on earth.)

My professional relationship to beauty comes from a deep personal interest. I spend a lot of time taking in beauty content that focuses on beauty as a tool of personal enrichment, utilizing fashion or makeup to feel engaged in the world’s perception of ourselves. As a trans woman who does a lot of work with other trans people, I'm interested in how beauty and fashion can be used for self actualization and to free ourselves from the baggage that gets culturally assigned to us.

That said, I think the beauty world can feel arcane to some of us and it makes many people feel excluded. I hate that! Putting effort into feeling beautiful shouldn’t require intimate knowledge of beauty marketing. I feel passionate about guiding clients through that noise to find what really works for them. I also think it’s so important to deconstruct our conceptions about perfect aging! We can take good care of our skin and strive to look our best without expecting ourselves to look 21 for life. 

My facials are simple, and designed with sensitive skin types in mind. My aim is to deep clean, exfoliate, and hydrate your skin and give you the tools to take care of your skin yourself at home, whatever that looks like to you. I love my consistent facial clients, but I know that’s not realistic for everybody. How can someone who doesn’t have the capacity for a 12-step skincare routine have better skin? How can someone who can’t get a facial once a month have better skin? I'll tell you when you see me!

AND I do think you should come see me, by the way. Let's talk about your skin while I do your brows and go from there. I would love to make you feel beautiful and, no offense, offer some constructive critique about how you wash your face. 

Lash Lifts are a service to create perkier hoisted up lashes for a brighter more open eye appearance. Lash Lifts have a longevity of 4-6 weeks depending on care.

This brow appointment is ideal for someone who needs more time with Alice, either to plot their brow goals or for detailed management of their dream brows! Also great for first time brow guests or if it’s been a long time since your last visit! The ‘Detail Brow’ has a thorough consultation built in for your brow dreams and allows time for Alice to answer your questions. Alice will guide you through how to get your brows to look exactly as you wish in the day to day, arming you with the knowledge you need for replicable brow looks.

This brow appointment is best for the returning Alice guest who is maintaining more of the ‘same’ and for any guests who are happy to leave decisions in the hands of our experienced technician! You’ll have a moment to touch base but to save you time and mental energy, the thorough consultation is not included and neither is coaching or education on creating brow looks.

Subjection to all my classic tortures (skin enhancing pleasures). In the signature facial I’ll utilize my favorite techniques to deeply cleanse and refine your skin. We want you leaving with an obvious glow. My techniques may be set, but all products will be chosen with your skin’s needs in mind.

Consultation & Extended Treatment Facial

90 mins $175

If you know you have a goal today, this is the facial for you! The deluxe allows us extra time beyond my usual services that we can use for whatever we decide together, like extended relaxation or targeting specific skin concerns with more advanced treatments.

Includes any area or combo of facial waxing that we can do in our allotted time together with the exception of brows.

Both limbs waxed from either elbow or knee, up or down

— 60 minutes — $85

Covers larger areas of the body such as back, chest or stomach. This service is priced as $100 and up for how much area we can cover in our time allotted.
