Don’t let my enthusiastic nature fool you, I’m dedicated to my craft in a serious way. I have a Bachelors in Fine Arts, which greatly influences my approach to hair; considering form, detail, texture, and shape in a creative process much like a subtractive sculpture. I also understand that not all haircuts are aesthetically driven and that sometimes a haircut isn’t actually about your hair, but more of an aid in processing life changes or affirming identities. Personally, I have always used my hair to affirm my identity! While I do cut all lengths of hair, my experience of working in a barber shop does lend me more to shorter barbered looks. I find lots of joy in carving shapes and lines into haircuts to create ‘hair tattoos’, with the cherry on top being when I get to accentuate or create a design on short hair utilizing hair color and my art background.

With the amount of energy that I have, I spend my time out of the salon always occupied. I run a charity tape label “Strange Mono” with my husband, release solo tracks under the name “Lisp Whisperer,” and play bass in a few power violence projects. My favorite way to decompress is to spend time in my vegetable garden or snuggling up with my two cats and new member of the family my hound mix Hank. When I’m out in the garden I often find myself thinking about the parallels to haircutting in the concept of ‘pruning for growth’- it’s all connected!!!!

For currently shorter hairstyles that mostly involve clipper work on the sides and back of the head — 1 hour — $60
CHIN AND SHORTER
For shorter hairstyles, no longer than chin length, that are mostly scissor cut — 1 hour 15 minutes — $75
SHOULDER
For hair that is past your chin to brushing your shoulders — 1 hour and 30 minutes — $90
PAST SHOULDER
For all hair that lays on or goes past your shoulders — 1 hour 45 minutes — $105

More space for artwork as this option involves Jess painting up your fully buzzed head instead of just a portion of it — 2-4 hours — $120 +
